The Academy Awards 2017 nominees were announced on Jan. 24, Tuesday, at a press conference attended by Ken Watanabe, Jennifer Hudson and Brie Larson. This is the first time the Oscar nominees were also unveiled via livestream. Here are the major acting nominees:

5. Meryl Streep for "Florence Foster Jenkins"
This is Streep's 20th Academy Award nomination. If she wins, it will be her fourth Oscar trophy. In 1980, she received her first Oscar trophy as Best Actress for her role in "Kramer vs. Kramer."
In 1983, Streep's "Sophie's Choice" performance earned her the Best Actress award, which she won again in 2012 for her performance in "The Iron Lady." In 2015, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Into the Woods" but lost to "Boyhood" actress Patricia Arquette.
Streep played the title role in the 2016 biopic "Florence Foster Jenkins," which was written by Nicholas Martin and directed by Stephen Frears. The film also starred Hugh Grant, who told E! News that "the legend of Meryl Streep is intimidating" and he "was frightened by that."
