There is no need for Chinese people to fly to exotic seascapes for a taste of the tropical life. A new luxury hotel in Sanya, Hainan Island, was opened to the public last December, according to an article by JustLuxe.com.
The Sanya EDITION is owned by the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and headed by internationally renowned hotelier, Ian Schrager.
Sitting on a 50-acre property, The Sanya EDITION promises to deliver relaxation and recreation in what is China's answer to popular tourist trap, Hawaii. Found within the grounds are well-appointed residential-style guestrooms and 46 suites. The Sanya EDITION's limited hillside villas also boast luxurious features, including private pools.
The Sanya EDITION has eleven special zones designed for different needs and purposes. For example, kids get to have their own specialized area for fun and play while adults also have an area dedicated to them. Sports, entertainment, and relaxation are also some of the other areas scattered within the sprawling development.
Another feature of The Sanya EDITION is its three art galleries, featuring various works from local artists for a healthy dose of local arts and culture. Age-specific pools, a miniature village, and a 78-foot infinity pool on one of the rooftops offer more attractions to the luxury resort's guests.
The main attraction, however, is The Sanya EDITION's private ocean.
It is illegal to swim in the South China Sea. As a solution, the developers created a private ocean for The Sanya EDITION. The 21,527-square foot saltwater pool is pumped with approximately 10 million gallons of water from the nearby ocean every 32 hours. White sand surrounds the shores of this man-made ocean, where guests can swim, lounge, or work on their tan. Locally sourced coconut and other trees surround the pool to give the illusion of vacationing in a real tropical beach.
The Sanya EDITION is located in Sanya, Hainan Province, in southern China. Room rates begin at $231 on weekdays, while the villas start at $596 per night.
