"So You Think You Can Dance" Season 14 has just been renewed by FOX, but several changes can be expected from the hit dance reality competition.
According to TV Line, the format for Season 14 will be like the first seasons of the show. This means that adults will be the ones competing within 10 weeks of competition.
Dancers between the age of 18 to 30 will be featured in the show, and each one of them will be chosen by an All-Star that they will work and perform with week after week.
Last year, "So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation" did not receive relatively high ratings because a lot of the fans were not happy to see kids compete on the show.
Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of "So You Think You Can Dance" released a statement explaining their decision to revert back to the old format. According to him, Season 14 is all about focusing and giving what their loyal audiences want and has been asking for.
Lythgoe added that on top of the All-Stars that will be part of Season 14, there will also be some returning fan favorites in the summer. Additionally, there will also be some big surprises are also in store for the viewers.
As of late, host Cat Deeley is still in talks to return to Season 14, but judge Paula Abdul has already confirmed her absence this season. On her Twitter account, the former "American Idol" judge said that her schedule is very tight because of her ongoing "Total Package" tour.
Meanwhile, "So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation" served as a milestone for the show. At that time, they aired their 250th episode. Contestants between the ages of 8 to 13 also participated in the competition. Kida Burns aka Kida the Great brought home the $250,000 grand prize. He also graced the cover of Dance Spirit magazine thereafter.
"So You Think You Can Dance" Season 14 will premiere on FOX sometime this summer.
