Crazy "Pengci" incidents in China, 2015

An audacious Chinese man has taken the traditional art of pengci to a whole new level. While many have (badly) attempted to pretend that they've been hit by a vehicle, the recent one involving the uncle is one for the books.

A video posted online has now become viral, showing the uncle splayed out on the road in front of a police car without leaving any space for the vehicle to move an inch. The incident took place in Quijing City in Yunnan Province, just outside of a police station.

According to reports, the police car has been parked on the area for quite some time and the man just simply walked up and sprawled down on the ground in front of the vehicle. When a police officer approached, and asked him to move. Instead of getting up, the man demanded 20,000 RMB in compensation.

The term pengci is literally translated as "touch porcelain." This traditional art goes way back to the Qing Dynasty where a person, who usually comes from a formerly wealthy family, would dress up as a nobleman. He would then position himself in a crowded public place and hold an expensive looking piece of porcelain (usually fake). He let others "hit" him, cause him to drop the china and he would then demand compensation for the damages.

Pengci became popular in China for years and has evolved with the times. But with the advancement of cameras, the guilty parties have been exposed and put to shame.

Last Christmas eve, a Chinese auntie in the city of Nanyang attempted to run across a road. However, the driver was quick to slow down to a full stop before the auntie could reach the car. But she went through with her act, jumping forward onto the car and awkwardly falling backward.

While most of them have the worst acting skills ever, one cannot deny that they possess an unmatched level of confidence to attempt something like this.
