Triple H stares at Seth Rollins with Stephanie McMahon looking on.

One of the planned matches for WrestleMania 33 is Triple H vs. Seth Rollins. However, the match is now in jeopardy because of the injury to Rollins' surgically-repaired right knee. The latest rumors have revealed the new plans for Triple H, Rollins and Samoa Joe for WrestleMania 33.

The WWE has been building the Triple H vs. Seth Rollins match since August 2016 but the company received some bad news after Monday Night Raw. "The Architect" suffered a right knee injury during the ambush by Samoa Joe, per WWE.com.

The injury happened after Joe tried to get Rollins' back for the Coquina Clutch. Rollins' feet were not fully planted so it resulted in his right knee giving out. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rollins suffered a torn right MCL and he might miss a maximum of eight weeks.

Meltzer also pointed out that Vince McMahon and the creative team had an emergency meeting to talk about alternative plans for Triple H and Joe at WrestleMania 33. The planned Triple H vs. Seth Rollins match is still on the table if Rollins gets cleared before the big event on April 2 in Orlando.

Other options presented during the meeting include Triple H vs. Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 33. Another one is to move "The Samoan Submission Machine" on SmackDown Live and proceed with the rumored match with John Cena.

It should be noted that these backup plans are just rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. The WWE will explore more options as the diagnosis on Rollins' knee injury gets cleared. If Rollins miss WrestleMania 33, it will be the second straight WrestleMania that he'll miss.

The two-time WWE world champion suffered a torn right ACL in late 2015 and missed WrestleMania 32. He returned at Extreme Rules 2016 and attacked Roman Reigns. He defeated Reigns at Money in the Bank 2016 to win the WWE world title before losing it to Dean Ambrose on the same night.

Since then, Rollins turned face after he was attacked by Triple H. The WWE has been planning the big match for several months now and they could only hope for the best regarding one of their most marketable stars. Check out the video below to watch Joe's attack on Rollins this week on Raw.
