Since its last model dated back in April 2015, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover's next flagship phone remains unknown. However, in a latest citing at the Wi-Fi Alliance database, a new handset was revealed, which could be the unannounced Xcover 4 device.
According to the said listing, the unannounced Samsung smartphone bears the model number "SM-G390F." The device reportedly passed the Wi-Fi Alliance certification, which as per reports could be launched as Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 as its predecessor carries a similar model number: SM-G388F, Phone Arena reported.
No other information on the phone's specs and hardware were revealed on the Wi-Fi Alliance listing, aside from the only information that it is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
Samsung has established two-year gap on the Xcover serie,s so the news on the upcoming Xcover 4 smartphone may be true. To refresh, the first edition of Galaxy Xcover smartphone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS was welcomed in the market on 2011, which is followed by the Galaxy Xcover 2 running Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The 2015 Galaxy Xcover 3 came with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed, whereas its Value Edition was released in 2016 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
According to Mobile Indian, the Galaxy Xcover 3 Value Edition, last iteration of Xcover smartphone, features a 4.5-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) display. Inside, the device is fueled by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 652 processor, coupled with1.5 GB RAM. It further offers 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a micro SD card. On the software front, the phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and is backed by a 2,000 mAh battery.
On the optics department, the Galaxy Xcover 3 Value Edition comes with a 5-megapixel camera that includes underwater shooting mode, while its front camera sports an 8-megapixel sensor. The device measures 132 x 70.1 x 10 mm and weighs 154 grams.
Its connectivity options include 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, a micro USB port, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope. The handset was both water and dust resistant, which offers an IP67 rating and certified on MIL-STD 810G.
More information on the said Xcover 4's pricing and availability are not still released. However, customers should expect Samsung to unveil the said device at the MWC 2017 this month.
