Palermo is currently on a five-game winless spell after winning only their second game of the season six rounds ago. The team is in the 19th spot in the overall standings, within the bottom three relegation area and at risk of getting demoted to the Serie B with 16 rounds to go in the season.

A 10-man Rosanero side is coming off a 1-1 tie with contending squad Napoli on the road at the Stadio San Paolo last Sunday, as per Daily Mail Online.

Macedonian striker Ilija Nestorovski opened the scoring for head coach Diego Lopez's squad in the sixth minute of the contest with a header from the center of the box off an assist by Italian defender Andrea Rispoli following a corner kick.

Napoli was then able to find the equalizer in the 66th minute, courtesy of a right-footed shot by Belgian forward Dries Mertens with the assist coming from Piotr Zielinski.

Palermo defender Edoardo Goldaniga was then sent off in the 89th for fouling Mertens in the attacking half.

Meanwhile, Crotone pulled off a stunning 4-1 victory over lowly team Empoli at their home ground of Stadio Ezio Scida also last Sunday, Football Italia reported.

Romanian midfielder Adrian Stoian scored the opening goal for head coach Davide Nicola's side in the 24th minute before Empoli forward Levan Mchedlidze leveled the count in the 39th for a 1-1 tie at the half.

However, Crotone striker Diego Falcinelli was able to score a hat trick in the second half, one in the 56th minute and two in injury time, to hand his team their third win of the season.

The win snapped a four-game winless slide for the Pitagorici, although they are still in the relegation area.
