"Final Fantasy XV" is currently available on the PS4 and Xbox One and the developers at Square-Enix are considering a port on the PC. However, the company has confirmed there are no plans yet for a port on the Nintendo Switch.

The studio has not yet tested the game on the Switch and therefore cannot yet tell if the game would even run on the system, Director Hajime Tabata explained in an interview with Dual Shockers. The Switch is notably less powerful than either the PS4 or Xbox One and the game may not run smoothly on the system.

Despite this, Tabata stated there are many employees at Square-Enix who are interested in the Switch. Many members of the "Final Fantasy XV" team are also fans of Nintendo. Square-Enix also had a strong relationship with Nintendo in the past, particularly during the era of the SNES, Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS.

Although "Final Fantasy XV" is not yet being worked on for the Switch, Tabata did state the game will take advantage of the upcoming Xbox Scorpio, the more powerful version of the Xbox One. The Xbox Scorpio will release before the end of the year.

Tabata did not elaborate on what kind of upgrades the game may feature on the Xbox Scorpio. He did state that the new features may be similar to the upgrades on the PS4 Pro. These upgrades included smoother, more consistent framerates and slightly better graphics.

More updates are also expected for the game given how successful it has become. "Final Fantasy XV" even managed to break even on its development costs on the very first day it released, Gamespot reported. The game managed to ship over 5 million copies on launch day.

Square-Enix first revealed the game back in 2006 as "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" and by 2013 it was rebranded as "Final Fantasy XV." Despite its long development cycle, the reported sales make it one of the most successful games in the franchise.
