George Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin-Clooney are expecting twins this year. The actor had expressed in the past that he did not plan to become a father. However, that was before he met and married the love of his life.
The "Ocean 11" actor tied the knot with the Lebanese-British human-rights lawyer in an Italian ceremony in 2014. Though he has been open about how his wife transformed his life, he kept mum about having kids.
George's good friend Matt Damon knew about the pregnancy while it was still eight weeks. He was working with George in the fall when the latter pulled him aside to tell the news. He was so happy for his friend he almost cried, Damon told Entertainment Tonight.
However, upon learning the pregnancy was eight weeks, Damon warned his fellow actor not to tell anyone to observe the 12-week rule, which George has no idea about.
Damon, who has four kids, thinks George and Amal would be great parents and that their kids would be lucky. The couple never had kids and the upcoming twins will be their firsts.
In the past, fatherhood was something not in the list of George's priorities. The 55-year-old actor recalled he did not say he would never get married and have kids. It was just how he lived his life around work and friends.
"I think it's the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids," George told PEOPLE in 2006. "It's not something to be taken lightly and I don't have that gene that people have to replicate."
The actor who was named the sexiest man alive by the magazine in 1997 and 2006, saw the children of his co-stars in "Ocean 11" films. He had been around Damon, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Casey Affleck who were happy with their kids.
Though George does not have any experience in fatherhood, he had the chance to understand it considering his profession and surroundings. His role in "The Descendants" in 2011 was a father of two daughters and a husband to a cheating wife.
