Atalanta scored the first two goals of the contest in the 19th and 26th minutes, courtesy of Andrea Conti and Alejandro Gomez respectively, before Palermo was able to put themselves on the board with a 41st-minute goal by Ivaylo Chochev.

Italian midfielder Bryan Cristante sealed the win for the visitors in the 78th minute, handing head coach Diego Lopez's side their 16th loss this term.
