Carmelo Anthony has been the subject of NBA trade rumors but nothing has so far materialized. There is a chance he may play on with the Knicks and save potential zip code moves in the Summer.
Carmelo Anthony has surprisingly played better since NBA trade talks cropped up. For someone of his caliber, he seems dialed in and focused each time he takes the court.
The Knicks have been aggressive trying to deal Anthony though it will require the all-star forward to waive his no-trade clause. Anthony mentioned that no one has approached him to discuss it, meaning no trade is close to happening for the Knicks, ESPN reported.
Unless Phil Jackson and the Knicks are keeping things under wraps, Anthony could end up finishing this season as a Knick. His huge salary is a problem for most teams, one of the big hold-ups to consummate a trade.
The most celebrated deal was the one involving the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks had wanted Kevin Love in exchange but the Cavs unsurprisingly turned it down. The Cavs are still open to getting Anthony but on the condition that it would involve other players or even picks.
Other teams mentioned were the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Celtics folded while the Clippers were looking for a conduit team to make the trade happen.
Looking ahead, Anthony will need to exert extra effort to shun these distractions. The NBA trade deadline will be here in a couple of days and anything can still happen.
For the meantime, Anthony has been named by NBA commissioner Adam Silver to take the place of the injured Kevin Love. Anthony will be making his eighth NBA All-Star appearance on Feb. 19 in New Orleans.
The announcement came a bit of a surprise considering Anthony had previous plans to use the all-star break to take a vacation with his family. He obviously changed his mind for some reason, easing out the likes of Hassan Whiteside (Miami Heat), Bradley Beal (Boston Celtics), Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons) and teammate Kristaps Porzingis (New York Knicks), the NY Daily News reported.
One person who was happy to see Anthony back in the All-Star game was friend LeBron James. Check out the video below to find out why.
