Deportivo La Coruna is reeling at the moment with five consecutive winless performances, including three draws and two losses. The team had dropped to the 16th spot in the Spanish top flight table as a result, only three points above the bottom three relegation area.

The Branquiazuis were nipped by contending squad Athletic Bilbao, 1-2, on the road at the San Mamés Stadium last Saturday, as per Sofa Score.

Head coach Gaizka Garitano's squad opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with a left-footed shot from outside of the box by Turkish midfielder Emre Colak off an assist by Spanish defender Juanfran. It gave the visitors a one-point lead at the break.

However, Los Leones was able to score two goals in the second half, courtesy of Iker Muniain and Aritz Aduriz in the 71st and 89th minutes, as the hosts snatched away the win and three points in the overall standings from Deportivo.

Meanwhile, Alaves was destroyed by defending champions Barcelona, 0-6, at their own home ground of Mendizorrotza Stadium also last Saturday, Goal reported.

Head coach Mauricio Pellegrino's side was no match for Barça's triple-headed attacking threat of Luis Suárez, Neymar, and Lionel Messi, who each scored at least one goal in the six-goal demolition.

Suárez netted a brace in the 37th and 67th minutes while Neymar and Messi added one each in the 40th and 59th. The other goal was scored by Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the 65th minute while Alaves defender Alexis Ruano's own goal in the 63rd completed the final count.

It was Alaves' fifth winless game in their last six outings, settling them in the 12th spot in the standings, 11 points above the relegation zone.
