Actresses Uzo Aduba, Taylor Schilling, Laverne Cox, Selenis Leyva, and Kate Mulgrew, casting director Jennifer Euston, and actress Laura Prepon attend the 'Orange Is The New Black' FYC screening at DGA Theater on August 11, 2015 in New York City.

"Doubt" Season 1 star Laverne Cox recently opened up about her character's relationship in the new TV series.

While speaking with TV Guide, Cox said that her character, Cameron and Peter's love story is very much true to life. In the series, Cameron is a transgender woman dating a man. Cox said that this real-life storyline is something that she has always wanted to see portrayed on television.

Cox added that she is very happy to be the vessel for such a representation on television since she is also a transgender woman in real life. She added that these days, it has become more possible for straight men to be attracted to trans women.

Meanwhile, Cameron and Peter's relationship is expected to trigger conversations not only about transgender people and their relationship, but also the LGBTQ community.

This is not the first time that Cox played an important character on television. A few years ago, she was cast to star in "Orange is the New Black," where she also gave life to a transgender character.

In an interview with People, the highly-acclaimed actress said that the fifth season of "Orange is the New Black" is really exciting and juicy. Despite its controversial ending last season, Cox guarantees that fans will be hooked to the new storylines.

"If you are a fan, and I am a fan of the show even as a person who is on it, when I got the script I felt like I was tearing into it. When actually, it was on my iPad and I was scrolling down like, 'What happens?' because it was a cliffhanger at the end of Season 4," she said.

Cox was of course talking about the scene where Samira Wiley's character Poussey died at Litchfield prison. The actress continued that the 13 episode fifth season of "OITNB" will take place only within a span of three days. This means that they are jamming all of the storylines together since so many things will happen in a period of three days.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 5 will premiere on Netflix sometime in June.
