The said announcement was done at Starbreeze's earnings call as the said project has officially kicked off. Company CEO Bo Andersson Klint hinted, however, that their developers are not in a hurry in releasing the game as he added that it is still on its "full design stage."
In a statement obtained by Game Spot, Klint mentioned that the game sequel will be taking advantage with the amount of time needed to produce it. Moreover, he added that the "Payday 3" "will be done when it is done." Klint also highlighted that the game franchise is their single most important title as of late and the foundation of their business and such stature would be dealt accordingly.
Albeit its aging status, the current title - "Payday 2" still gets new contents from time to time. In fact, the title just received a new game segment through "Payday 2: John Wick Heists" that features the aforementioned hitman, according to Polygon.
Apart from the "Payday" franchise, the Overkill is also developing a "Walking Dead" title. Nonetheless, the developer did not divulge any details as to what is the status quo of the zombie-themed game.
Starbreeze also has another project - "Psychonauts 2" which they also announced that they partnered with Double Fine to publish the said game. The company is also looking forward to future ties with other teams to their publishing endeavors as they hinted the such will not be the last time.
"Payday 3's" release date is indeed way off as of the moment. However, it is said that "Psychonauts 2" is slated to be out in 2018.
