"God of War" is an action-adventure video game series loosely based on Greek mythology, originally created by David Jaffe at Sony's Santa Monica Studio.

The latest updates for the new "God of War" wil, feature a possible release date for the PS4 and more details about the sequel coming soon.

Several rumors are making rounds regarding the possible release date for the new "God of War" game as retailing website Amazon put the game on a placeholder indicating a Dec. 29, 2017 launch for the PlayStation 4. But take note that it is not made clear whether this is the distribution date or the day the game goes live in the console, GameNGuide reported.

It is previously reported that pre-order details were hinted for the new "God of War" as it cost around $59.99. For now, Santa Monica Studio has not yet revealed the exact month and date for "God of War's" release date, but gaming fans will eagerly wait for the announcement within this year.

In other news, voice actor Christopher Judge confirmed via tweet that he will be returning to voice Kratos yet again in the new "God of War" sequel for the PS4.

Fans speculated that Judge's tweet might mean something more for the "God of War" sequel as possible new game details could be revealed within this week, SegmentNext reported.

The previous installments in the "God of War saga" have always been linear, with the player simply killing enemies and solving puzzles before moving to the next area. but, "God of War" for the PS4 will be different as game’s director Cory Barlog has claimed that there will be alternative paths to follow, letting users play with more freedom than the previous titles.

Kratos will be battling monsters and gods from the Norse mythology along with his son Atreus.Gamers who are curious as to what Atreus' name in the new "God of War" sequel, his name came from Greek origin which hints that is related somehow to Kratos’ past, which could be a factor that comes into play in the forthcoming title. Should that occur, then the game’s use of Norse mythology will more than likely loosely intertwine with the lore from Greece.

Lead gameplay engineer Jeet Shroff stated in an interview that Atreus will be instrumental in the new "God of War" gameplay teasing that he is much more of a passive character. Gamers can direct Kratos' son in combat as Shroff stated that their is a a button that can summon the boy in battle, which sort of a twisted "Father and Son" bonding.

Balrog confirmed that Kratos' son is aware of his father's lineage, but does not know his past and so the game will feature more personal moments between the two.

The new "God of War" will launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4.
