Carlton Cuse, Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Nestor Carbonell and Max Thieriot attend the 'Bates Motel' panel with A&E during Comic-Con International 2016 at San Diego Convention Center on July 22, 2016 in San Diego, California.

"Bates Motel" Season 5, premiered on Feb. 20, Monday, on A&E with the episode titled "Dark Paradise." In the new season's second episode titled "The Convergence of the Twain," viewers should look forward to an interaction between Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and Chick Hogan (Ryan Hurst).

Chick will bring Norman a gift in "The Convergence of the Twain." The date of the latter will not go as planned.

On the other hand, viewers will see Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) very frustrated in the episode. His frustrations will even reach a boiling point.

In "Dark Paradise," "Bates Motel" Season 5 picked up around one and a half year after the death of Norma Louise Bates (Vera Farmiga). Not everyone was aware of her death.

Before "Dark Paradise" aired, executive producer Kerry Ehrin told Entertainment Weekly that Dylan Massett (Max Thieriot) still did know that Norma had died. Unsurprisingly, Norman is living in denial and does not recognize his mother's death despite his role in it, the executive producer said.

"For the most part, no," Erin told the publication. "It's too painful of an admission to look at. Norman is living in multiple realities and functioning at the moment."

In another interview with Hollywood Reporter, Ehrin was asked whether or not the appearance of Marion Crane (Rihanna) was always part of the plan. Created by Robert Bloch in his 1959 novel titled "Psycho," the character was played by the late Janet Leigh in the 1960 film of the same name, which was directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

The showrunner said it was a gut instinct that they would. However, it felt appropriate to land somewhere in the world of "Psycho" as they wrapped up the story of "Bates Motel," she said.

Airing on Feb. 27, "The Convergence of the Twain" will feature Ash Lee as Dr. Nguyen, Andrea Brooks as Joanne Carlson and Olivia Cooke as Emma Decody. Daniel Boileau, Gaalen Engen, Hugo Steele and Sarah Ziolkowski will play a clerk, a store owner, an inmate and a bar patron, respectively, in the episode.
