It looks like Apple is getting their fair share of volatile devices as one of their iPhone 7s was burned to a crisp. The people involved were quick enough to document the misfortune as it happened that quickly became viral.
The 21-second video has been viewed online over a million times over on Twitter and raked in over 20,000 retweets and likes. Apple was prompt enough to attend to the said concern before everything blows out of proportion.
In an interview with BBC, the owner of the handset, Brianna Olivas stated that she already noticed that there is something wrong a day before the incident. She claimed that the phone would not turn on so she decided to have it checked.
Olivas also said that the technicians who checked on her iPhone 7 assured her that there is nothing wrong with it and the power issue seemed to have been fixed. The following day, as soon as her boyfriend took the phone to their dresser before going to the bathroom, her man noticed that smoke is coming out from her iPhone 7.
Her boyfriend then quickly brought the phone to their bathroom and recorded the scene. Olivas also mentioned that a squealing sound was heard on the phone by her boyfriend before it blew up.
However, it is also noteworthy to mention that she said that she left the handset charging next to her head right before she went to bed. This made tech pundits speculate that this might have caused the problem.
Lithium-ion batteries are widely used by mobile devices as of late due to its high storage capacity. However, if being incorporated with faulty components or damaged, the probability of the above-mentioned incident is likely to happen, according to Mashable.
Apple is now conducting an investigation on the said issue as a statement obtained by the publication said that the company is already aware of the viral clip. Watch a news clip about the recent iPhone 7 fiasco here:
