Avid fans of the hit 2014 game "Shadow of Mordor" will soon be able to enjoy the gaming title's latest installment. Recently, Warner Bros. officially announced the game's upcoming sequel titled "Middle Earth: Shadow of War" through an epic teaser clip.
Game publisher Warner Bros. surprised avid fans when it unveiled an announcement trailer for "Middle Earth: Shadow of War." Released on Feb. 27, Monday, here are four things that players can expect from the upcoming game:
Personalized gaming experience
Similar to "Shadow of Mordor," the upcoming "Shadow of War" utilized the same Nemesis System. However, unlike the first installment, the said system was enhanced to cover all aspects of the upcoming gaming title.
The plot description for the game, as obtained by Gamespot, highlighted how the entire world of "Shadow of War," from its characters to various environments, can be further influenced by the player's decisions and actions. The description read, "The robust personalization from the first game is now applied to the entire world ... creating a personal world unique to every gameplay experience."
New "Followers" element
Game developer Monolith Productions also enhanced the Nemesis System and added a new element called "Followers." In an announcement released by the gaming company, as obtained by the same news site, VP Michael de Plater stated that these characters will introduce different stories about "loyalty, betrayal, and revenge."
Given how "Shadow of Mordor" included a gameplay feature where enemies recalled all encounters with the gamer, Monolith further enhanced the system in "Shadow of War." Gamers can also expect to see interesting heroes and villains in the upcoming sequel.
Return of familiar characters
With the appearance of a new Ring of Power in "Shadow of War," several characters from the original game will return to the upcoming sequel. The villainous Sauron will return, as well as his Nazgul, with Talion and Celebrimbor tasked to embark on a quest to infiltrate the enemy's troops and create an army from within to defeat the Dark Lord.
Potential "Gold" edition and expansions
A recent NEOGAF thread highlighted a product posting on Target that teased details of the upcoming game's PS4 box art, as well as the game's Gold Edition. The said product post, that has since been deleted, even revealed a "Gold War Chest" bundled in the game's special edition including four expansion packs that will introduce new playable characters, enemies, followers, abilities, side missions and more.
"Middle Earth: Shadow of War" will be released on Aug. 22 in North America for PS4, Xbox One and PC, while a gameplay trailer will be unveiled on March 8. Watch the teaser clip below:
