Tesla Motors’ Model S Sedan

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk claimed that their Model S Electric sedan is not only a bad ass on ice but it also can travel farther on a single charge.

Musk disclosed that Tesla will conduct a press conference on Thursday, and the company will announce that the entire Model S fleet will have a software update that will "end range anxiety."

Tesla cars, just like smartphones, can transmit wireless over the air updates to their software, which gives the cars updated features without the need to bring them to an in-house mechanic.

Tesla CEO did not mention how long is the battery life of the Model S capable of and how much improvement was placed in the electric sedans. The standard model can run up to 208 miles mileage on a single charge, while the Model S version with a bigger battery pack can run up to 265 miles. The latest all-wheel-drive Tesla Model S "D" edition tops them all at a rate of 270 miles per single charge, KCRA reported.

Tesla has upgraded its Roadster electric cars the previous year, increasing their range to almost 400 miles between charges via the over-the-air update. The Roadsters could only travel about 245 miles on a single charge before the upgrade was made, according to CNN Money.

Getting upgrades to these cars through wireless access, Tesla is showing the public a new way of upgrading the car business. Soon people might no longer have to buy a new car to get one with better or new features but rather have upgrades to the old ones.
