Just like “Logan” which had a simultaneous release in China and the U.S. and its stars coming to China to promote the movie, the same thing in happening with upcoming reboot of “Beauty and the Beast.”

Lead actors Emma Watson and Dan Stevens are in China to promote “Beauty and the Beast” which is set to premiere in the two countries on March 17. The event was held at the Shanghai Disneyland where the case greeted fans and also enjoyed the rides, China Plus reported.

Movie Theme Song

The cover of the movie’s theme song, performed by John Legend and Ariana Grande, was unveiled. The Chinese version of the song, featuring Jing Boran and Tian Fuzhen, was also released.

The movie has become controversial because to promote “Beauty and the Beast,” Emma Watson – who rose to fame for her role as Hermione in the “Harry Potter” series and is a UN ambassador for gender equality – the actress appeared in a pictorial for Vanity Fair where she was topless but her breasts where partly covered by a white Burberry capelet.

Feminism & Topless Photo

She was criticized by some for claiming to be a feminist which they say is inconsistent with appearing in a sexy pictorial. However, she defended the pictorial by saying that feminism is about giving girls and women opportunities in work and education similar to opportunities given to boys and men.

“Beauty and the Beast” also introduced Le Fou and the first openly gay Disney character which led to the movie being banned in some cinemas because of the gay character, MobileNApps reported. Before the Disney movie, “Logan” star Hugh Jackman also promoted the Wolverine movie in China, indicating how important the second-largest movie market is to Hollywood movie producers because China exhibition could make or break a movie.
