Actress Emma Stone attends The Ninth Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards at 548 West 22nd Street on November 13, 2012 in New York City.

As the DC Comics Extended Universe continues to expand its superhero and villain lineup, fans have been discussing potential actors and actresses to fill in those shoes. Fresh from her Best Actress win at the 89th Academy Awards, Emma Stone is now leading the pack as the fan favorite to play Batgirl.

Here are three reasons why Stone would be the perfect Batgirl.

Emma Stone fits the physical description

In comic book lore, Batgirl is Barbara Gordon who is a librarian by day and a vigilante at night. According to Wikia, Barbara is a red head and stands at 5'6. Stone happens to be one of the most well-recognized redheads in Hollywood. Coincidentally, Stone is also 5'6 tall.

A mockup of Stone as Batgirl was recently shared by an artist named Boss Logic on Twitter. The Batgirl that appears on the image is the one in the "Batman: Arkham Knight" video game, CinemaBlend reported.

She has the acting chops to play the role

Throughout her prolific acting career, Stone played variety of roles that showed her wide range of acting capabilities. Oftentimes, she plays a strong and free-spirited young woman, characteristics that can be attributed to Batgirl. If she gets the role, it would not be her first time in a superhero film as she previously starred in two "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies together with her ex-boyfriend Andrew Garfield.

Moreover, Stone is an Oscar-winning actress, which is definitive proof of how great an actress she is. She'll find herself in good company in DCEU that boasts decorated stars in its ensemble, which includes Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, Jesse Eisenberg and Amy Adams.

She has ties with J.K. Simmons

The role of Commissioner Gordon, who is Batgirl's dad in the comics, is currently being played by J.K. Simons in the DCEU. Both Stone and Simmons starred in "La La Land" together, and it is likely the two comedians will have great chemistry as father and daughter in DCEU.

Meanwhile, the role of Batgirl is still up for grabs, and it can be any actress' game at this point. So far, among the notable candidates for the role includes Jena Malone, who was rumored to make her DC debut as Batgirl in "Batman v Superman."
