Nokia 2017: Nokia-branded phones will head to U.S. markets for global release

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last February, HMD Global released new phones under the Nokia branding - the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3. Now, the new Nokia phones are slated for U.S. market release after a recent confirmation from Nokia Mobile.

The news on the said U.S. release came from the Nokia Mobile's official twitter handle. Responding to a fan's query, Nokia Mobile confirmed that its new Android smartphones "will be" available in the U.S., Phone Arena reported.

For now, customers can visit Nokia.com/phones and sign up for updates regarding the availability of the new Nokia devices.

For the uninitiated, the Nokia 5 is marketed as a mid-ranged handset and sells its "seamless" aluminum body, NDTV reported. It features a 5.2-inch HD display with a resolution of 720 X 1080 pixels. Inside, the smartphone is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 430 processor, paired with Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphic processor, 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage (up to 128GG of expanded storage).

In the optics department, the Nokia 5 features a 13-megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash, as well as an 8-megapixel front-snapper perfect for selfies and video conferencing. The smartphone will ship the Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system and will include Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi, Accelerometer, Light sensor, Pedometer, and Proximity support.

Furthermore, the Nokia 3 is branded as the budget Nokia smartphone, which brings a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It will be powered by powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has a 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).

On the camera front, the smartphone features 8-megapixel camera on both the front and back panels. It will also run the Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box.

Meanwhile, the Nokia 6 sports a 5.5-inch full-HD display with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. It is armed with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with Adreno 505 GPU. Nokia 6 also brings 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. Its camera sensors are a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and dual-tone flash, and an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

It also houses a 3000 mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Other features include USB 2.0 port, fingerprint sensor in the front, stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio enhancement.
