Ex-Ellen DeGeneres show guest Rhap Salazar sings ToFarm Songwriting Competition 2017 winner

Rhap Salazar is the singer of "Binhi ng Pagbabago" (Seeds of Change). Written by Gino Torres, the song won the first ToFarm Songwriting Competition over nine other songs chosen as finalists.

In an interview, Salazar said he felt really blessed that the song he interpreted won the competition. He had nothing but praises for Torres saying that the songwriter was easy to work with.

"Continue inspiring other people on what you do," Salazar said when asked to give a message to Filipino farmers. He added that he is looking forward to seeing the enrichment of the Philippine agriculture.

Salazar was the winner of both the Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World and the Junior Grand Champion Solo Vocalist of the World at the 13th World Championships of Performing Arts. He sang "All By Myself" by Celine Dion at the final show in Los Angeles on July 17, 2009.

On Nov. 17, 2009, Salazar appeared as a guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." On the show, he sang "All By Myself" again and received a standing ovation by the audience and Ellen DeGeneres herself.

"Your voice is incredible," DeGeneres told Salazar at the time. "There's so much power and emotion. We can just feel everything."

During the interview, DeGeneres asked Salazar to enumerate his favorite singers. Aside from Dion, the Filipino singer also mentioned Josh Groban, Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles, the late Whitney Houston and the late Michael Jackson.

On April 9, Sunday, Salazar performed "Binhi ng Pagbabago" at the ToFarm Songwriting Competition 2017 awards night at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier in Taguig City, Metro Manila. The competition was organized by Universal Harvester, Inc. led by the company's executive vice president Dr. Milagros O. How.
