Samsung is constantly pushing Google's new Android Nougat firmware on its devices with the company's latest flagship models under the Galaxy S series being treated with the OS update. However, the South Korean tech giant is shifting to its mid-range portfolio for the Nougat operating system after models of Galaxy A5 (2016) unit in Russia seemed to receive the update.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update came as an on-the-air update as claimed by a Galaxy A5 (2016) user. According to the XDA Developer Forums, the Galaxy A5 (2016) model has received the Android 7.0 Nougat update with the build number A510FXXU4CQDK.
On another leak, an owner of the Galaxy A5 (2016) carrying the model number SM-A510F in Russia has also uploaded a video that revealed the added improvement on the Nougat update. In the video, Samsung has updated the UI design for the Galaxy A5 (2016), which will be at par with the Galaxy S series models.
According to GizBot, the Android 7.0 Nougat update will arrive as an OTA update so will be rolled out to units in phases. Right now, the update for the Galaxy A5 (2016) models have been received by a small number of units in Russia. The update might take a longer time before it reaches the global users.
To check if you have received the Nougat update, users can visit their phones' control panels through Settings → About Phone → System Updates → Check for new firmware.
Once received, the Android 7.0 Nougat update should add a slew of new features on Galaxy A5 (2016)'s user interface and functionality such as bundled notifications, night mode, multi-window options, improved battery optimization, and more.
In addition, the smartphone will provide greater efficiency through the Performance Mode added in its software. The Performance Mode will let users optimize their phone better by categorizing their usage performance. Users can activate different modes to fit their usage and lifestyle. The included modes are Game Mode, Optimized Mode, High-Performance Mode, and Entertainment Mode.
Aside from the Galaxy A5 (2016) unit, Samsung is pushing the Android Nougat update on some of its released models such as the Galaxy A7 (2016 and 2017), Galaxy A3 (2016 and 2017) and last year's Galaxy A8.
