McDonald's (MCD) is saying thanks to healthcare workers, police officers, firefighters, and paramedics for their selfless service during the coronavirus pandemic with a free Thank You Meal.

The free meals will be offered from Wednesday through May 5 via McDonald's drive-thru or carry out at participating restaurants nationwide.

Included in each Thank You Meal, which is available for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, is a choice of sandwiches, drinks, and side. The meals will also include a note of appreciation and be served in a Happy Meal box.

Breakfast meals include a choice of Egg McMuffin, Chicken McGriddles, or Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit, along with any size soft drink, tea, or hot coffee, and a Hash Brown. Lunch and Dinner meals include a Double Cheeseburger, six-piece Chicken McNuggets, or Filet-O-Fish, along with any size soft drink, tea, or hot coffee, and small fries.

To receive the free Thank You Meal, frontline workers can show their work badge or be in uniform. Thank You Meals are limited to one per person per day. Menu options may vary by restaurant.

"We have been inspired by the way our franchisees have been going above and beyond to support their local communities throughout this trying time," Joe Erlinger, president at McDonald's USA, said in a statement. "I couldn't be more proud of how our company, franchisees and supplier partners have come together to give back to those who are working tirelessly for our country. That is truly our McDonald's system at its best."

McDonald's restaurants remain open during the COVID-19 crisis. The fast-food chain said it has implemented nearly 50 safety measures to protect its employees as they continue to serve America during the coronavirus outbreak.

Shares of McDonald's stock were down 1.51% as of 2:28 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
