Rumor: Chinese Tech Giant Xiaomi In Development Of Smartwatch That Could Rival Apple Watch

Xiaomi is in an increasingly bitter spat with LeTV following "damaging" accusations over its smart TV product line.

As the official release of the highly anticipated Apple Watch comes closer, several tech companies are joining in to the smartwatch bandwagon, the latest to join the competition is Chinese tech giant Xiaomi.

Due the Apple Watch's increasing hype, many tech companies were persuaded to create their own version of the smartwatch, Xiaomi is rumored to have started developing its own line of smart wearable devices long before the Apple Watch was even announced.

Rumors has it that the Xiaomi smartwatch will sport a larger screen compared to Apple Watch. Additionally, Xiaomi's smartwatch will also integrate the device with health-monitoring sensors, which is ubiquitous in today's wearable devices. It is reported that the Xiaomi smartwatch can monitor its user's blood pressure through the use of pulse wave velocity recognition.

According to Mobile Burn, Xiaomi's own smartwatch will have a brushed metal design and will be designed with a round face.

The Chinese tech giant has yet to confirm the rumors and has not even released a single definitive statement whether it is developing a smart wearable device.

Some industry analysts said that Apple Watch sales could be seriously affected if Xiaomi decided to release its own smartwatch. The Chinese tech giant has garnered millions of devoted followers due to its high-end devices being marketed at very affordable prices, according to Tech Times.  

Moreover, Xiaomi recently signed a deal with Chinese sports company Li-Ning in order to develop microchips that can be placed into the soles of shoes. This will enable users to track their progress which exercising or jogging.
