Sony just released the trailer of Adams Sandler's new upcoming summer blockbuster movie "Pixels." Hours from its initial release, the movie starts to enrage some retro gamers as it is foreseen to destroy iconic video game characters of the 1980s.

Pixel is a full length feature that is packed with iconic 1980s video game characters like "Pacman" and "Donkey Kong."

The plot is an alien invasion that was triggered when a beam of video games character was sent into space. This was misunderstood by the aliens as an act of war and launched an all out invasion on the planet Earth.

Now it is Sandler's duty along with his mighty 80s arcade champion friends to stop the massive alien invasion and defend the planet. The antagonist of the film will include 8-bit icons like "Pacman" and "Donkey Kong" as they were used by the aliens as weapons of war.

The film was inspired by a inspired by 2010 short film by Patrick Jean, that borrows a similar plot according to The Verge.

Exciting as it may sound, the movie starts to get negative feedback from hardcore gaming enthusiasts.

Kotaku praised how the iconic characters were portrayed although gave the movie a thumbs down and called it terrible.

Iconic as it can be, the movie is also expected to ruin golden old-school childhood video game memories.

The film is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monagan and Peter Dinklage.

It is expected to hit the silver screen on July 24.
