Why modern convenience isn't the cultural demon some think

Advances in technology have undeniably come with some downsides. We all know somebody who thinks that some of the modern conveniences of today have made our lives worse rather than better. They don't want to be reachable 24/7 wherever they are. They think that our attachment to our smartphones and being constantly 'wired in' to the system is detrimental to our emotional wellbeing. But not everyone agrees.

Many people feel that modern technology and the fact that we have access to more information and more opportunities for connection, is generally a good thing. While not every part of tech and modern lifestyle is good, there are some excellent aspects of the convenient life we now live.

Modern convenience makes life more entertaining

There are so many more ways to entertain yourself these days. Even while you are on the go, it's so easy to find an online casino game that you want to play on a site like Betrivers. You can find a Betrivers casino promo code to make use of their bonuses, and be playing in a matter of minutes.

If you're not into online gambling, there are so many other games that you can play online, from the simplest word games and puzzles to the most complex and graphics-heavy role-playing games, where you can immerse yourself in intricate, imaginary worlds.

You can buy any of the excellent gaming consoles that are available these days, or you can just use your computer or mobile to play browser-based or app-based games.

The wealth of the world's knowledge is in your hands

The next time you hear somebody moaning about young people constantly looking at their phones, you can counter that with the fact that they may be gaining knowledge. Who is to say these young people aren't reading the works of Shakespeare or studying for an exam? There are dozens of places where you can learn virtually anything online, with many being free to use.

It is amazing to be able to perform an online search and find the information you need in seconds. Let's say your car breaks down while you are out driving, and you need a way to fix it. In days gone by, you'd almost certainly have been stuck, not knowing where to begin. Now, you can search for the problem according to the symptoms, and potentially repair things yourself - or at least get some ideas for a temporary fix until you can get professional help. The same applies to issues that may crop up in your home.

Modern convenience is good for your health (usually)

There are some amazing health and safety features built into devices these days. For example, Apple has recently added fall detection as a feature of its smartwatch, so that when you are in danger, the device can call the emergency services for you and you can get the help you need. What more of an argument for modern convenience do you need when the technology available at your fingertips might just save your life?

These days, people with mobility issues and those who live in really remote areas can now get access to professional medical help and advice at the touch of a button. In the past this was simply not possible.

And let's not forget that modern tech plays a big part in eradicating illness and disease on a macro level. It's now quicker and easier for experts to share their knowledge, leading to scientific breakthroughs in the development of vaccines and treatments.

Modern convenience might help to save the planet

Modern convenience has undoubtedly come at a price: it has contributed to destroying our planet. There can be no denying that we need to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and technology can help us do that.

Many global companies are now making a commitment to being environmentally responsible. For example, Tesla is making big changes to try and make the future more sustainable and reduce the damage that we are doing to the environment.

Nobody is forcing people

Of course, there will always be those who yearn for the "good old days" and want to avoid technology completely. In many ways, this is still possible. Nobody is forcing you to have a smartphone. While it may make your life easier, this cultural "demon" is certainly not taking away your right to stay clear of modern tech and disengage with it if that is what you truly want.
