"Cinderella" has become people's apple of the eye, since its theatrical release last week.
After its release in theaters last March 13, the live-action adaptation has got an estimated domestic gross of $78 million and an estimated foreign gross of $62 million, which doubles its estimated total gross to $141 million as compared to last week's $70 million.
The film was so successful that "Cinderella" products have broadened their typical market from children to grown-ups, according to VOA News.
Cinderella toys such as dolls and figures have become more popular to little girls. Exclusively for sale at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York is a glass slipper designed by Jimmy Choo. Choo tied up with Disney to craft another style of Cinderella's glass slippers. The said pair of glass slippers is now sold at $5,000. Famous online retailer HSN as well as make-up company MAC now sells Cinderella products.
Meanwhile, a Cinderella exhibit will be held in London, as per Express. Fans can see in real life the costumes, props, and the famous glass slipper that were used in the film. Twenty-two costumes are displayed in the exhibit, from Cate Blanchett's sophisticated gowns to Cinderella's eye-catching blue dress.
The said exhibit is under the partnership of Walt Disney and Swarovski. The latter is known to provide costume designer Sandy Powell with 1.7 million crystals.
Disney's "Cinderella" live-saction adaptation stars Lily James as Cinderella, Richard Madden as the Prince, Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine, and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother.
The film was spearheaded by Kenneth Branagh, along with Simon Kinberd, Tm Leis, David Barron, Barry Waldman, and Allison Shearmur as producers.
Film director Kenneth Branagh also spoke his thoughts about the behind-the-scene creations that contributed to the film's success in Express. Branagh said that the creative juice of costume designer Sandy Powell made the exhibit really magnificent, starting from the drafts up to the finishing touch.
