HTC One M7 users are rejoicing after Mo Versi, the smartphone maker's vice president of product development, announced that they might still get a taste of the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The much anticipated Android 5.1 version was launched earlier in March, but the HTC One M7 just got the initial Android 5.0 Lollipop version a couple of weeks after.

The 5.1 Lollipop version contains several fixes for issues by the first one. Versi announced via Twitter to HTC One M7 users that the Taipei-based tech company has no plans to give them the 5.1 update, but GPE model owners will still be able to receive the new Lollipop, according to Mobile Syrup.

However, Versi posted another tweet that raised the hopes of the M7 users, saying that the fixers from 5.1 are already included with their Lollipop version, but a real update might come soon.

What does the new Lollipop 5.1 version have that leave current Android 5.0 users wanting for more?

For starters, it includes an update that allows Lollipop users to easily switch Bluetooth devices and Wi-Fi networks without the hassle of going to the settings menu. Users can now just swipe down the quick settings menu and they can now instantly switch between available devices and networks.

In addition, the phone will not automatically connect to a previous network that had no Internet access. Most have waiting for this update to come, according to Tech Portal.

Another feature added is for security. If the device is reported stolen or lost, it be locked until the original owner's Google account is signed in. A factory reset will be of no help.

Other features include multi-SIM support, new UI animations and an intriguing HD Voice support.
