A scientist was left dazzled when he came face to face with the little and very rare mammal - Ili Pika, a rarely seen animal with little bear-like face.

Scientist Li Weidong from the Xinjiang Institute for Ecology and Geography, went for an expedition in 2014 and stumbled upon the cute mammal.

The scientist discovered the species name Ili Pika in 1983. He had first discovered this species almost 40 years ago and he himself re- discovered them in 2014.

When he came face to face with the mammal this time, the little creature was hiding behind a rock and Li wasted absolutely no time and clicked pictures, to show the world what a marvel the animal kingdom is, as per Tech Times.

The Pika live in the cracks of mountains in North America and eat just herbs and mountain plants to survive. They have named as a dangerously endangered species, with as less as only 2000 Pika left in the whole world. And among these 2000, scientists feel that only 29 Pika can be found alive by them, and photographing one in such a rare occasion is a big thing to celebrate for them, as per CNN.

The climate change and increasing global warming is leaving a bad impact on this species, depleting them at an alarming rate of 55%.
