Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat X

"Mortal Kombat X," the anticipated fighting game for next gen consoles and PC, is only a couple of weeks from release date. The developers Nether Realms have confirmed in their new Shaolin trailer that Liu Kang is in the game.

However, the former hero who was fighting for the good side is dead and his soul is possessed by the bad side. In the upcoming game, Liu Kang will be a primary character but as a villain who is also joined by Kung Lao.

The "Shaolin" trailer which was released as an exclusive for Maxium Russia revealed both these characters as well as another one named Kung Jin, who happens to be Kung Lao's cousin. He's the only hope now to save the realm, according to Raiden's speech in the trailer.

Liu Kang was no ordinary guy but he is the lead and the good fighter right from the start in the series. He fights against those powerful enemies to win the tournament but sadly the developers have decided to make him the villain in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X," Neo Seeker reported.

Most players opined in the comments that it is weird to play with Liu Kang as the bad guy as he has been the iconic hero for more than two decades. However, it is the idea the developers may have had so that the game feels different from the previous installments.

Joining the opposite side always has some benefits and both characters will feature more powerful kills, attacks as well as brutal fatalities. A whole lot of new generation fighters are joining the game including Cassie Cage and the surprising new addition, the Predator, Den Of Geek.

"Mortal Kombat X" is getting released on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 14. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game is expected to be out by the end of the year.
