The Google's Chrome operating system has not been changed. These Chromebooks still has reduced boot-up duration, automatic software updates, and long battery life.

Google, in a statement, said "You shouldn't have to choose between a computer that performs well and one that you can afford."

Previously, Chromebooks' price range between $199 to $999. While its Chromebook Pixel is a higher end model, most Chrome OS devices have not gone lower than $499 mark. Today, the limit has been changed to $149.

This digits are to change, sooner. Google, together with the devices' launch, announced that two other devices with Chrome OS are to be built by Asus. One of it will be available at $100.
