Miley Cyrus' father Billy Ray Cyrus is set to impersonate Elvis Presley in an upcoming series for CMT titled "Still The King," which will shoot in the Nashville area and will premiere in early 2016.

CMT president Brian Philips said Billy Ray has had "a solid and lucrative life on American television" and "Still The King" is "a passion project" for the 53-year-old multiplatinum selling country star, USA Today reported.

"He's put some things in the show that parallel his own life and family," Philips said of Billy Ray.

Written and produced by Billy Ray, "Still The King" is a scripted comedy about a one-hit wonder country performer who became an impersonator of the King of Rock and Roll. Played by Billy Ray himself, the character will end up disguising as a small-town preacher.

In 2014, Billy Ray appeared in the drama "Like A Country Song" starrung Deborah Allen, Shane Almgren and Daniel Backman, in the TV movie "Sharknado 2: The Second One" starring Tara Reid and "The Celebrity Apprentice" alums Vivica A. Fox and Ian Ziering and in "Newsreaders" as himself in the episode "America's Unknown President: Reporter On House Arrest," which aired on Dec. 18, 2014.

After his country hit "Achy Breaky Heart" in 1992, Billy Ray went on star in "Doc" from 2001 to 2004 and in "Hannah Montana" from 2005 to 2010 with Miley, who is currently dating Arnold Schwarzenegger's son Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Recently, the "Achy Breaky Heart" hit maker told TMZ that he approves of the "Terminator" star's son for his daughter.
