‘Transporter’ Reboot Has No Jason Statham; 'Furios 7' Villain Calls It 'Business Decision'

"Spy" actor Jason Statham will reprise his role Deckard Shaw in "Fast And Furious 8."

Paul Walker's "Furious 7" co-star Jason Statham has expressed his thoughts about not being part of the "Transporter" reboot cast.

In an interview with Vulture, Statham was asked how he feels about the rebooting of the "Transporter" series without him.

"You know what, it was obviously a great experience doing those films, and I would have loved to keep doing it," Statham explained. "But they wanted me to sign on and do three more films without even seeing a script, and they offered me less money to do three than I'd get paid for one! So it was a business decision."

Statham starred with Qi Shu and Matt Schulze in "The Transporter," directed by Louis Leterrier and Corey Yuen in 2002 and with Amber Valletta and Kate Nauta in "Transporter 2," directed by Leterrier in 2005.

According to Statham, he would have loved to have done the "Transporter" series reboot. He said, "But you can't really sign on without doing a script, and to sign on for three of them? And to get paid a pittance? I just couldn't see the value in that."

The upcoming reboot titled "The Transporter Refueled" directed by Camille Delamarre stars Ed Skrien, Loan Chabanol and Lenn Kudrjawiz, among others.

After "Furious 7," Statham will appear in the upcoming film "Spy" opposite Melissa McCarthy.

Directed by Paul Feig, "Spy" features Statham as Rick Ford, a talented agent who teams up with Susan Cooper, an unassuming C.I.A. analyst, played by McCarthy, UPI has learned.

Also in the "Spy" cast are Jude Law, Bradley Fine, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney and Morena Baccarin.
