David Archuleta of "American Idol" has been backlashed due to his tweet that was perceived to be anti-gay but he already apologized about his statement.

According to Just Jared, his tweets were believed to be in support of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of Indiana. The report shared that the Indiana law is being attacked widely since it was signed into a bill because it will allow people to discriminate those who they do not come in terms with especially the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transsexual (LGBT) community.

The tweet that was posted by Archuleta was a quote by Boyd K. Packer that talks about romantic love being incomplete because it is a prelude as love is nourished by the coming of the children that comes after a woman and a man gets married. The tweet was since then deleted.

After releasing such tweet over the weekend, he wrote an apology days after that was directed to his website as he asked for forgiveness for offending anyone as he did not think of the last line of the quote possibly creating a buzz. He shared that his intentions were misunderstood as he just wanted to share that romance is looked at as just that when in fact there is so much more after falling in love.

Archuleta added that to those who were offended by what he posted should know that he has respect for the freedom of the people and their beliefs as well as their decisions regarding their ways of living. He added that he hopes others can also respect him and his views.

According to E! News, Archuleta is a Mormon and his beliefs are about family and children. Archuleta joined "American Idol" and came in second place. In 2014, he was away from the spotlight as he completed his two-year Mormon mission and was based in Chile.
