Tiger Woods was six shots back of the leader after the first round of the 2013 Honda Classic.

Golf superstar Tiger Woods has been contracted to redesign a golf course in Beijing, China, as part a two-course deal reportedly worth $16.5 million, Golf.com reported.

The Beijing project will be Woods's first stint in Asia as a golf-course designer.

Canadian firm Pacific Links International, which sells membership plans to golfers, hired Woods to rehabilitate the Beijing Tian'an Holiday Golf Club located just outside Beijing. The 27-hole golf facility will reopen under the name Pacific Links National Golf Club once the renovation is completed.

"We strongly believe this course will stand the test of time and be one of the most prestigious courses in China, and even Asia," Woods said in a statement provided by Pacific Links.

The course will serve as the flagship project of "Pacific Links' 27 Club," which will include 12 courses in Beijing and nearby Tianjin regions. The other courses will also be designed by golf greats, including Greg Norman, Pete Dye, Fred Couples and Ernie Els.

Woods opened his golf-course design firm, Tiger Woods Design, in 2006. His first completed course, El Cardonal at Diamante, opened in Dec. 2014 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Bluejack National, the first course he designed in the U.S., is set to open this fall in Houston, Texas.

As for his playing career, Woods said last month that he hopes he could go back to form in time for the Masters, which will start in Georgia on April 9, Sporting News reported.

"I hope to be ready for the Masters, and I will continue to work hard preparing for Augusta," Woods said.
