Nintendo just released "Pokémon Rumble World" on eShop on April 8, Wednesday. The game follows the standard free-to-play model, which most games, including bigger companies like Square-Enix and Gameloft, are using.
Fans of the game and the series will be downloading the game in a heartbeat, but in Kotaku's post, gamers might have some reservations about it. It is a basic top-down hack-and-slash or beat-em-up game that incorporates most of Pokémon's basic mechanics like elements. Nothing much going on as expected from free-to-play games.
Just like how folks from Techno Buffalo view it, "Pokémon Rumble World" goal is simple and nearly identical to what all the Pokémon games have been.
The story is simpler though. The King gives the player a task of capturing all the Pokémons in order to draw out the nemesis, which is something everybody would probably expect from a first-party game for the 3DS.
The game is a no-brainer and with regards to game difficulty, it requires almost zero effort. Compared to the traditional Pokémon games, Rumble World takes a different direction, but according to both mentioned gaming news outlets, this gets old pretty quick and repetitive.
The good thing about the game is despite being free, it does not necessarily mean that it is a pay-to-win game that will require players to actually dish out cash to properly advance. Poké-Diamonds, the game's premium currency, can be purchased or earned through realistic amount of effort. Cutesy graphics is also the game's stronger points.
"Pokémon Rumble World" is not a jaw-dropping game. It may not be for everyone, but it is a good distraction, especially for those waiting for newer Pokémon releases.
