Ben Rubin On Periscope Vs Meerkat Battle: Meerkat and Periscope are Different and will Co-exist

Meerkat Vs Periscope

Meerkat founder Ben Rubin feels awesome when it comes to Periscope Vs Meerkat battle. He belives that the two services, despite looking similar, are actually differen; and there are enough reasons to believe that the two service will co-exist.

When asked about his feelings while the Twitter backed Periscope hit the web space, Rubin said, "I felt awesome."

Rubin feels that the two services are different. He said, "We feel very comfortable with why our product is different."

There are some minor variations in the two services. However, analysts feel, they serve the same market. Meerkat, in fact, allows people to schedule broadcasts for future. If no one shows up in the 'currently streaming' category, the app becomes blank.

Periscope, meanwhile, lists all the contacts on Twitter under its People tab. It also creates a "Most Loved" list depending on the quantity of "hearts" or likes. Twitter is a bigger repository of videos, which can be accessed anytime from anywhere in the world, according to The Telegraph UK.

Meerkat sends the video link once someone starts a livestream. That can be inconvenient if pressed without intentions to do so.

Aside from allowing the user to actively select whether to share video or not, Periscope also saves all broadcasts for 24 hours. Meerkat video streams can be saved to the phones.

Rubin feels that there is enough scope for Meerkat and Periscope to survive together. He says that Skype, Facetime and Google Hangouts are very similar, but they co-exist.

"They're all in the same space. But there is enough (difference among them)," Rubin said, according to re/code.

For Rubin, the idea that Periscope will destroy Meerkat is wrong. The Meerkat CEO said that when people say that Meerkat is dead, they forget that it was "the best app in the App Store before Periscope came."

Unintentionally, however, Rubin accepts that Periscope, after launch, snatched that honor away from Meerkat.
