Chinese pop singer Zhang Liangying, popularly known as Jane Zhang, announced on April 8 that for her Bang the World concert tour, she will be performing in seven cities in China.

The nationwide concert tour will run from June to August, with the kick-off on June 27 in Shanghai. This will be followed by July 4 in Changsha, Hunan Province; July 11 in Wuhan, Hubei Province; July 18 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province; July 25 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province; Aug. 1 in Beijing; and Aug. 8 in Dalian, Liaoning Province.

Before the announcement of the tour, Zhang bafflingly dropped out of the “I Am A Singer” competition just before the semi-finals. Fortunately, there was an exciting reason for her sudden exit from the popular television contest.

Aside from this news, Zhang also announced that she is trying to deviate from her usual voice style, and so, taking a more western approach as a singer.

Jane Zhang was first discovered in 2005 through the nationwide singing talent show “Super Girls.” From then on, her musical career bloomed. She became popular not just in China, but all over the world. Her debut album titled “The One” was even produced by American producer Craig Williams.

Throughout the years, Zhang has been known as the singer of historical drama soundtracks. Majority of her songs are slow and can be recognized as Asian-sounding ballads. Furthermore, with her signature whistle register, she gained the title as “The Dolphin Princess” and was commonly likened to other singers like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera.

Fans now await Zhang’s concert tour to witness her musical transformation.
