‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Casting Update: Olivia Munn Confirmed As Psylocke Plus More About The Character

Olivia Munn is set to play the character of Betsy Braddock and Psylocke in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse." Director Bryan Singer tweeted about the Munn's inclusion in the cast.

"Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN," Bryan Singer tweeted.

BBC noted that Psylocke appeared in "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006) as a villain (part of Magneto's team). Mei Melançon played the part of this character.

Things To Know About Betsy Braddock or Psylocke

According to Marvel, she was the second child of Sir James Braddock and Merlyn manipulated her life. She has a twin brother named Brian or Captain Britain. In the beginning, Psylocke's "original powers were precognition, telepathy, mental bolts, mind control and generating illusions." However, she developed psychic knives and possessed a telepathic katana.

Betsy was a charter pilot before discovering that she was a mutant. Later, as her powers were enhancing she quit being a pilot and worked as a super model. She was recruited by Agent Matthew in the Psi division of S.T.R.I.K.E. Subsequently, she becomes the lover of a Psi member named Tom Lennox.

In the comic books, Psylocke was English. However, it has not been confirmed by Singer or Munn, if she would use her British accent in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

At one point, Psylocke was able to impress Wolverine and he recommended her to become a part of X-Men. Later in her life, she became a part of Storm's team in X-Men.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is said to hit the theatres on May 27, 2016.
