Xperia is a family of smartphones and tablets from Sony.

In spite of the fact that Sony has yet to unveil its Xperia Z4, rumors are brewing on the horizon of the supposed hardware specs of the new Sony Xperia Z5. If these rumors are true, the Sony Xperia 3 could have two successors before the end of the year.

According to Android Origin, Sony's Mobile arm is planning to release three variants of the Xperia Z5 later this year. If these rumors are true, Android Origin added, an Xperia Z5, a bigger Xperia Z5 Ultra and a smaller Xperia Z5 Compact should be able to hit the market before 2015 ends.

Sony's flagship smartphone is rumored to have a Quad HD display and at its heart is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip with 4GB of internal memory. The Xperia Z5 Ultra is also rumored to have the Qualcomm 3D Ultrasonic technology that enables fingerprint scanning and a new set of camera sensor. Optical Image Stabilization, which is present on iPhone 6, will not be available to the Xperia series within the next two years.

For the Z5's phones design, there is a possibility that Sony will set aside the phone's original Omnibalance design and instead favor the well-accepted curved-phones like Samsung's Galaxy Edge and LG's G Flex. Additionally, the Sony Xperia Z4 is also rumored to be the last Sony smartphone to use the Omnibalance design.

For the phone announcement, the Consumer Electronics Unlimited which will be held in Berlin in September will be the most logical stage for Sony to unveil the new Xperia series. Sony has already used this event as a staging ground when it unveiled the Xperia Z3 in 2014, according to CNet.
