"American Idol 2015" top seven finalist Joey Cook, 24, has recently spoken about the controversial altercation between judge Harry Connick Jr. and her fellow contestant and friend Quentin Alexander.
On April 15, Wednesday, Cook was at the bottom two of the Fox singing competition with Rayvon Owen, which apparently upset Owen leading to the exchange of words with Connick Jr.
Cook said she was trying to tell Alexander at that moment that everything will be fine, USA Today has learned.
Early in the "American Idol 2015" competition, Cook and Alexander bonded as they both lived in New Orleans, where the former, who is a Virginia native, moved in 2014.
"I think he didn't realize it was going to happen, either, and it just overflowed out of him," Cook said of Alexander. "That's why I love him. There's no filter for Quentin. He's a raw, honest person."
Cook shared that she and Alexander spent a lot of time together in airports and they "stick out in a crowd like sore thumbs," which made them drawn to each other.
According to Cook, she sat on Alexander's lap during the controversial episode to calm him down.
One of the highlights of Cook's "American Idol 2015" journey is when Evan Higgins, her boyfriend of five years, proposed to her while she was competing on the hit Fox singing competition.
In an interview with Inside Nova, Cook revealed that the engagement ring Higgins gave her was "a combination of the engagement band his dad gave to his mom and a diamond from the first set of earrings his stepdad gave to his mom."
Meanwhile, Alexander is moving to "American Idol 2015" top six with Owen, Clark Beckham, Jax Cole, Tyanna Jones and Nick Fradiani.
