What doesn't look like any known creature on Earth but has teeth strong enough to cut through a wire mesh cage?
An "alien looking" creature captured in Shenzhen, China last week is arousing curiosity, dread and pity after a YouTube video showed this unknown beast trying to gnaw its way out of a cage by biting off pieces of the wire mesh holding it captive.
Apart from its super strong teeth, the animal is distinguished by its long claws and by a snout that looks like that of a pig. No one knows exactly what this beast is and there has been no news of veterinarians or other any other expert examining this animal.
You can view the YouTube video here.
The creature, which looks like either a hairless bear or a possum, was captured at the Shenzhen Reservoir in China's Sand Bay. This unknown beast was swimming when it was fished out of the water by workers for the Department of Drainage.
The man that uploaded the YouTube video believes the animal could be a mythical "water ghost". In Chinese folklore, water ghosts or "Shui gui" are the spirits of people that drowned.
Water ghosts lurk in the place where they died, drag unsuspecting victims underwater and drown them to take possession of their bodies.
David Neal, director of Animals Asia, said the creature "looks like a bear cub which is suffering from some medical condition which has caused it to lose all of its fur," he told Daily Mail Australia.
One commentator said the creature was a mutant created by the toxic pollution in China's rivers and streams. Another said the creature might be a deformed human baby that fell victim to toxic pollutants.
