"Chicago P.D." actress Sophia Bush's former boyfriend, who is also a Google executive, is one of those who were killed on Mount Everest in a series of avalanches triggered by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal on April 25.

A San Francisco resident, Dan Fredinburg, 34, was the only American among the 18 people found by an Indian army team on Mount Everest  and confirmed to have died in the avalanche, according to USA Today.

The Google executive died from head injuries when the avalanche crashed into his base camp on Mount Everest, the Washington Post reported.

Bush took to Instagram to pay tribute to Fredinburg. In a lengthy post, the "Chicago P.D." actress wrote, "Today I, and so many of my loved ones, lost an incredible friend."

The actress described the Google executive, who helped start the organization Save the Ice that aims to raise awareness about global warming, as a one-of-a-kind, fearless and funny "dancing robot who liked to ride dinosaurs and chase the sun and envision a better future for the world."

It was not Fredinburg's first time on Mount Everest. He was also there in April 2014, when 16 Sherpa guides were killed by an avalanche leading to Sherpas' refusal to aid any further expeditions on the mountain.

According to Bush, Feinberg was one of her favorite human beings on earth and one of the great loves of her life. The two broke up in 2014 after dating for almost two years.

Before starring in "Chicago P.D.," Bush starred in The CW network show "One Tree Hill" from 2003 to 2012 and in "Chicago Fire" from 2013 to 2014.
