As the days get nearer to the upcoming blockbuster "X-Men: Apocalypse," film helmer Bryan Singer unveils a shot of one of the recently added mutants - Nightcrawler.
Singer posted a photo of the mutant Nightcrawler on Twitter. The mutant is to be played by "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" actor Kodi Smit-Mcphee.
The image shows blue-skinned Nightcrawler staring back with his yellow eyes. Also, he got a smoky effect in a dark background, which may be an indication of his powers. The photo is captioned "Catch him before he's gone" and has got more than more than 600 retweets and more than 600 favorites.
Nightcrawler's latest version highly adhered to the original, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, two differences have been noted from the past versions. Instead of the blank bright-yellow look in Dave Cockrum's original 1970s version, the eyes in the new incarnation have pupils.
Another difference that has been noticed is the lack of scars on Nightcrawler's face, which Alan Cumming's version had in Singer's "X2: X-Men United" in 2003. Also, the "X-Men: Apocalypse" version presents a younger version of Nightcrawler with his modern jacket and corduroy pants.
With the alter ego Kurt Wagner, Nightcrawler grew up as an acrobat in the cricus. He possesses extraordinary speed, balance, flexibility, dexterity, and coordination. He has a high level capacity to see at night. In addition, the mutant can blend into shadows, stick to walls, and teleport.
As per IGN, the film is set in the 1980s, ten years following the events in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Filming commenced yesterday in Montreal.
Aside from Smit-Mcphee, "X-Men: Apocalypse" stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Tye Sheridan, Ben Hardy, Evan Peters, Olivia Munn, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, and Oscar Isaac.
"X-Men Apocalypse" is slated to premiere on May 27, 2016.
