Today Art Museum will launch "Today--Couch Tour" on May 8, along with the soft kick-off of its innovative art hub, Today Future Center.

Beijing-based Today Art Museum will launch on May 8 an exhibition entitled "Today--Couch Tour," which also marks the unofficial launch of Today Future Center, the museum's newest exhibition podium.

The latest exhibition showcases the Venice Biennale, which can be viewed live through video and other means. The project is a collaboration with this year's Venice Biennale.

The exhibition will run until June 15.

Meanwhile, the Today Future Center will not be just an ordinary online exhibition platform, according to Today Art Museum curator, Gao Peng. The center will also be a multi-spaced art hub.

A first, the museum will also utilize Augmented Reality, a new technology that provides visitor interaction with art pieces after scanning a particular work through their smartphones.

"They will be able to see the sculpture become live or disappear, or move it to any place they want it be. And they can even upload their comments or see others' comments," Gao eagerly shared.

Today Future Center takes its concept after the museum's immense experience with online exhibitions such as Fu Lei's first Solo Internet Exhibition in April 2012, the 2011 Extravagant Banquet by Lu Shun and 16:9 by Zhang Xiaogang, and Sui Jianguo's 2010 Power of Motion.

The innovative art hub is likened to Google's culture academy and is aimed at developing a community for the sector's pillars and fast-rising names.

Today Future Center will be officially launched in August.
