Former stars of the popular hit TV show "Glee" took to social media to pay tribute to their co-star Cory Monteith on his birthday. He passed away because of drug overdose.
Had Monteith survived, he would have celebrated his 33rd birthday on May 11, and to remember the day of her late partner, Lea Michele took to twitter to post a touching tribute to her boyfriend.
Michele posted a picture on Twitter of the young actor seated behind a drum set and tweeted the following message, "I know you're serenading everyone right now...We love you Cory! Happy birthday."
In 2014, Michele posted a similar tribute, as well.
Monteith's "Glee" co-star who plays the wheel chair bound character of Artie, Kevin McHale took to Instagram to pay his tribute to the actor.
McHale posted an Instagram photo of Monteith with a caption wishing him a happy birthday and that "Not one day goes by...."
McHale recently appeared on the HuffPost Show and revealed that the popular series never quite recovered after Monteith's passing.
He said it was not owing to the fact that the cast tried any less but their co-star's passing was a cause for a different mood and vibe to seep into the set which affected the cast and writers of the show.
According to a report that appeared in People, it was ruled by the coroner that the young actor had died of a drug overdose. Commonly refered to as mixed drug toxicity indicating that alcohol and heroin had been present in his body.
The actor's body was found in a hotel room in Vancouver and it is reported he was alone when he passed away.
