'Captain America: Civil War' Update: 'Hobbit' Actor Martin Freeman's Role Revealed

 "The Hobbit" actor Martin Freeman has been reported to be part of the growing list of the cast of "Captain America: Civil War." Now, Freeman's role in the upcoming blockbuster has been revealed.

"Civil War" comic book creator Mark Millar has disclosed Freeman's role in the forthcoming "Captain America: Civil War" in his recent interview with Radio Times.

Millar said that the "Hotfuzz" actor will not be seen wearing a cape, since he is not going to play a superpowered role in the upcoming film.

While Miller revealed Freeman's role in the movie, he is still tight-lipped on the exact part of the "Sherlock" actor in the film.

Freeman has also been rumored to play characters like Green Goblin, Bullseye, and Spider-Man, with the latter titular role split between "Ender's Game" actor Asa Butterfield and "Wolf Hall" star Tom Holland.

Miller even joked the Freeman could play "Hit-Girl," however; he also teased that the "Fargo" actor will not be playing Captain America's villain, the Red Skull.

If Freeman is not playing a superhero in "Civil War," he may play Henry Gyrich, as per Cinema Blend. Gyrich is a government representative of the United States., who becomes a rigid conflict for the Avengers, particularly during the Civil War.

Another potential character that has been rumored to be Freeman's role is Everette Ross, who is a government agent involved in the Wakanda storyline that began in Joss Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ulton."

Freeman may be tied up with the upcoming film "Black Panther" if his role as Ross gets confirmed.

Aside from "Captain America: Civil War," other projects of the "The Hobbit" actor are Tinge Krishnan's drama-comedy "Funny Cow" and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's comedy-war film "Fun House."

"Civil War" stars Freeman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Bruhl, Frank Grillo, Anthony Mackie, Chawick Boseman, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans.

Joe and Anthony Russo are set to helm the film, along with Victoria Alonso, Mitchell Bell, Louis D'Esposito, Kevin Feige, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Nate Moore, Trinh Tran, Patrcicia Whitcher, and Lars Winther as their co-producers.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFreely are on board to pen the screenplay.

"Captain America: Civil War" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 6, 2016.
