The "Bachelorette" will return with two new contestants on Monday night and ahead of its premiere, "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison opened up about the reality dating show's concept. Meanwhile, he also promoted his newest novel, "The Perfect Letter."

In a recent interview with The Huffington Post Live, Harrison explained why he decided to pen "The Perfect Letter," which was related to how viewers see "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette."

According to Harrison, he was asked several times before to write a dating book or a tell-all book but he declined because he wanted to focus on something else. Throughout the process, he thought of what people really wanted to see from the two dating shows and realized that it is the drama, romance and intrigue.

However, Harrison also clarified that "The Perfect Letter" does not have anything to do with the show directly. Rather, it is a combination of all the things he has learned from hosting the reality TV series for the past 19 years.

Meanwhile, two female fans asked Harrison for his insight or reaction to the uproar that was caused by "The Bachelorette" choosing two female contestants and pitting them against each other.

The host said that he loves how the show creator's decision to tweak "The Bachelorette" made an impact on so many people, whether positively or negatively. This means that the show made an impact on its viewers.

Harrison also stressed the fact that the two contestants, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson, took the challenge to empower themselves as women.

In other news, the male bachelors that Bristowe and Nilsson will be choosing from have already been named, IBTimes reported.
